Peentz Dubble has been a nationally Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher for 26 years and studies regularly with the Iyengar family in Pune, India. She began to practice yoga at age 13, finding that asana practice served to strengthen and develop flexibility while teaching her about alignment and movement that eliminated the chronic injury patterns she had developed as a dancer. She felt an immediate love for Iyengar yoga when first introduced to the practice in 1980.
Peentz was co-director of the first Iyengar Yoga Center in New York City and
a founding faculty member of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York. She moved to Boston in 1994
and began
teaching
at the BKS
Iyengar
Yoga Center in Somerville. In addition to
directing the
Iyengar
program at
Down Under Yoga, Peentz is
co-teacher of
the teacher training
program with Patricia Walden
at the BKS Iyengar Yoga Mala in Cambridge. Many of Down
Under
Yoga’s Iyengar instructors
were trained through this
program
and have served as
assstants
to Peentz and
Patricia.
Peentz also is an assessor
for the
Iyengar
Yoga National
Association of the United States
(IYNAUS) teacher
certification program.
Peentz’s yoga classes offer “an opportunity to dive
deep
into
the unknown” and to study the Iyengar
approach
to
classical
Hatha yoga in a systematic,
methodical
way.
She is
renowned for her
sequencing and her
ability
to
really see her
students, adapt to their needs, and
assist
them
in reaching their
personal goals
and
full potential.
