Swedish Massage
Swedish massage, pioneered by Swedish physiologist, Per Henrik Ling in the 19th century, is the best-known style of massage in the West. It is based on Western concepts of anatomy and physiology (as opposed to the energy 'meridians' in Asian systems). Using massage oils and strokes that warm up and work the muscle tissue, Swedish massage breaks up muscle "knots" or adhered tissues, promoting relaxation and easing muscular tension. Arturo Martinez's Swedish massage targets the most utilized muscle groups in your yoga practice. His Massage for Yoga emphasizes the upper back, thighs and gluteus, while keeping in mind the importance of reaching arms, shoulders and legs. Arturo uses a customized blend of essential oils (aromatherapy) created on the spot to reflect and nurture your energy. These oils unlock the body's ability to heal, enhancing physical and spiritual well-being. Arturo is one of Down Under's most beloved teaching assistants, certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork and developed his massage sequence from years of training and yoga practice. Structural Integration
Our bodies grow a strong, leathery tissue called Fascia that keeps our organs and muscles in place and supports us in everything we do. Over time, the Fascial web can grow into chronic imbalance, limiting our movement and potentially leading to pain. Structural Integration is a powerful series of bodywork sessions designed to address these imbalances and return ease, comfort, and greater freedom. In each session, the therapist evaluates your posture and movement patterns, working with deep, slow manipulations that will alter the way you naturally organize your own body and internally experience your own anatomy. Each session builds on the last, accumulating structural change, awareness, and understanding to the point of learning a new way to embody oneself. Though physically intense at times, the work is profound and transformative. We are honored to welcome Eli Thompson, one of New England's leading teachers on anatomy, physiology, fascia and structural integration. A Senior Teacher at Tom Myer's School of Kinesis, a certified Massage Therapist for over a decade, Eli travels the country giving lectures, teaching workshops and mentoring teacher trainees. Cranio Sacral
Cranial Sacral Therapy is a soothing, noninvasive, hands-on therapy developed by physician William Sutherland in the 1930s. The craniosacral system includes the brain, the cerebrospinal fluid, all 22 cranial bones, the spine and the sacrum. Using a soft and precise touch, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. This technique is helpful for a range of conditions including: stress, anxiety, insomnia and post traumatic stress disorder; headaches/migraine/jaw tension; arthritis, neck, back and joint pain; and whiplash or repetitive stress injuries. Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a hands on healing that opens the heart, clears the head, and frees the body. Chanel's background in neuroscience drew her towards studying Cranial Sacral Therapy and she was first graduate in Massachusetts of Visionary Cranial Sacral Therapy, having completed all seven course levels with the Milne Institute in California. She returns to her school annually to assist and deepen her studies with her teachers Hugh and Giorgia Milne. She is also a certified Postural and Movement Analyst through Tom Myers of Anatomy Trains and Kinesis and has been teaching yoga, studying bodywork and anatomy for over a decade. She sees clients from 8 months to 80 years and is honored to share the gift of touch with her community.
